Default Rear Harness removal

How do you remove the rear retractable housing located in the rear compartment in a 69 coupe.

Reach in behind the retractor and pull the rubber cover inwards and forward off the mechanism. There is one bolt that attaches the retractor to the body and it comes right off.

If your car is rusty...be careful due to the square nut that is welded to the bracket on the outside of the car and break away and the bolt will just spin.

Also..if you cover will not move easily...warm it up with a heat gun first.

Roger, there may be a second plastic cover under the outer rubber one. You have to unsnap it at the back. The bolt is underneath it. Lou.

Default Seat belt

Okay CanadaGrant, Dub and Lou, I will tackle that problem tomorrow and let you know how I made out. When I grabbed it it was very solid and did not see any screws or anything. I will heat it and see.
Thank You

Here are a couple of pics of one off my 69. The first one is from the back side of the unit with the cover on. You can see the two spaces where you can hook your fingers in from the front to pull the cover off. The second one is from the front side with the cover off to give you an idea what's in there.

The picture sure do help. Now I can see what you were talking about with grabbing the cover. Always nice to have an idea what lies beneath something.
Thanks

Grant, weren't there two versions of seat belts in 69, and yours looks like the rarer early version? I bought an original replacement belt set and the shoulder belt had the hole in it, not the stud to clamp the two pairs together? Lou.

Not sure if there were two versions but I think the shoulder belt was optional in 69. The belt goes through the chrome loop on the top of the seat and the stud slides into a hole in the lap belt hardware. It's not a one piece unit. It's a late 69 build. Oct. 24th.

Hi Grant, it was an option in 69 however my donor car is the one that has them and both my project car and the donor are early 69's. project car is a C04 which is Nov.68 the donor is D11 Dec. 68...But hey not sure of the version but I will check out once removed. Thanks again for the pictures.
