Clearly this is a personal choice. If I had to guess, Id say more people dont like them than do, and Id also say that while some people like them, those that dont literally will not buy a car that has one.
So, it makes sense to me that, if you dont care anyway, leave it as-is since the holes are filled. Keep the rack and offer it to the next possible owner if you sell it. If they like racks, they have the rack and will know the holes will be easy to find.
If you like the added chrome on the car and/or if you have any plans to actually use the rack, put it back on the car. If you don't particularly care for it and don't intend to use it, leave it off.
And, if you intend to have your car judged by NCRS, you don't want it back on. The luggage racks were 'dealer installed' (not a factory item); thus, NCRS will deduct for having non-factory equipment on the car.
P.S. To "IWASMENOWHESGONE":
Not sure about that. Tying your girl to the luggage rack would be frowned upon by most folks....

Hi 7T1,
Curiously I believe the deduction in the Exterior Section of Flight Judging isn't for the rack but for the HOLES in the fiberglass that weren't there when the car left St.Louis!
I wonder what would happen (I think I know) if someone would modify the rack's stand offs to look like the complete fasteners where there, but no holes.
When going over the judging sheets with the owner the judges would explain the deduction for the holes and the owner would reach over, remove the rack, and behold!!!, no holes.
I think everyone would have a good laugh!!!
Regards,
Alan
if you don't have a luggage rack, where are you going to carry the roof???
I leave my hard top at home, and my rag top folds nicely in the back, no eye sore...
personally i only like the racks on the chrome bumper cars, chrome on chrome
I happen to agree there the chromies look best with the luggage racks.
A thread like this is a persontal taste thing, if a person likes the rack get one of not don't but others getting all snarky saying luggage racks and or autos are for "girls" is just fanning fires of getting people all butthurt and insulting each other...
