May I ask what your car scored in 2011? Considering your car is all original, is it strictly now the level of finish that moves you up in point totals?
I average about 2500 a year. I've put 10k on it in the four years it's been on the road, but last summer only managed 1k, if that.
The first summer I had it running, I put 5k on it, drove it everywhere and loved every minute.
I don't worry as much about stone chips anymore....
I drive my vettes, they are cars after all and that is what I own it for,
Daily driving my vettes have taken no more repairs than any other daily driver I have owned, modern or old, but I do take care of my stuff.
I put over 100K on one 81, before 88, it had 15-20K on it when I got it,
The 66 I put around 35-40K
before I busted the strut on this current 69 that started the frame swap I had several 1000 on it in a few months, when it finally gets home and I get it driving again it will average 200-800 a week....
Right now my personal dd is a 95 import pos truck and I am way bored with it.
My car has 212K 'original' miles on it and the original engine. I will drive it wherever I need to go. I haven't taken it on VERY long trips just because of the limited amount of interior space (to move around) and the VERY limited amount of luggage space. But, I have no reservations about driving it anywhere.
You have a great memory! The ice cream shop is a 100 mile (round trip) sunny Sunday afternoon drive. One of my favourites.
The driving season is only five months (May-October) so mileage is limited by that factor. A couple of years ago it seemed we had rain every Sunday. That was a 900-mile year. Last summer things were better and I hit about 1,800 miles. But on average over time it is about 1,500 miles.
It's as if Andy and Barney are about to stroll the down the sidewalk and pause to look at the beautiful Corvette. Andy will say, "golly, ain't that Purdy"? Barney will want to 'run' the plates. I'm glad there are ice cream shops in towns that look like this, and top notch Vettes parked in front of them.
