I don't believe 68s had them. I think that started in 69.

I could be wrong. More knowledgeable members than I should be on later this evening (once we're all off work) and can give a more definitive answer. Stick around.

Hi a,
I'm curious!
What is this 'organizer' you speak of?
What does it look like, what's it made of, and where does it go?
Regards,
Alan

I think he`s talking about the map pocket? And I think Kris is right, 68s didn`t have them.

Yepper, that's it. Yeah, I just looked at another 68 and it didn't have it either.

Thanks

Ayesijun, There are LOTS of one year only 68 parts. Depending on which are still there and which are missing helps determine the value of the car.

If you aren't to familiar with them I would do some homework or
bring someone who is. The 68 is a great car, good luck.

The '68 passenger dash did not have the 'map pocket' arrangement. But, you could buy a used (or new) right dash and install it in a '68 with no problem. Corvette swap meets (like Corvette Expo around Knoxville, TN in Spring and Fall) are good opportunities to find them at reasonable prices.

I like the looks of the 68 without it.

Well i am looking at 2 corvettes right now. one is a 68 convertible with soft and hard top, blue with black interior, 4 speed, has a 350 crate motor in it now but the original 327 comes with it. Asking $22500, I hope to get him closer to $19 - $20K. The other is a 71 LT1 with M22 rock crusher 4 speed, blue on blue, asking $29500 and try to get him down to $25 - 27K but it is still a bit steep for my budget.

This will be my first corvette and have dreamed of owning a 68 - 72 vette since i was a kid (i'm 56 now). I am in the process of selling my '49 Hotrod chevy truck my dad and built and will be using that cash to buy the corvette. I test drove a 71 350 automatic the other day and was the first time i got to drive one let alone ride in one.

So, wadda ya think?

Unless the '68 is nearly perfect and mechanicals have all been redone, it is way overpriced, as it does not have the original engine.

If the crate install was done well and it is EFI, that might raise its value up to $20K, but that's about the limit for a '68 coupe without its original engine.

Not having the original engine would not prevent me from purchasing that car, if that's what I wanted. But, a 'real' LT-1, in good condition, for $25K would be the better choice.

A little known fact. If you have the normal 68 seats, without headrests, which were an option, the passenger seat will fold all of the way down and not hit the dash. Lou.
