Muffler case size

I'm working on my 71 vert LS project and need some info on muffler case size. I'm leaning towards just basic turbo muffler. 2.5 in and out.

What case length fits well?

Also centered inlet and outlet or offsets?

I'm building it with mandrel bent 2.5 tubing.

Hi L,
Original 71 mufflers were 17" long.
The pipe entered the muffler offset toward the center of the car in front and exited the muffler in the center in the rear.

You mention 2.5" in and 2.5" out. Unless you make your own exhaust tips, the original square exhaust tips are a 2.0" diameter.

I think there was a thread about this a few months ago.
