Who is bubba?
Last year I was at a car show checking out a nice mostly stock '79 and chatting with the owner. One of the owners of the earlier corvettes who came with a group of other early corvettes came over to talk to the guy.
He asked the owner of the '79 where he got his tops (or something like that) and when I commented that I saw those same tops at Eckler's he intentionally acted as if I wasn't even there. Sure he didn't know that I have a C3 that is parked on the other side of the show, but the guy was totally disinterested in talking to me and I'm not sure why. I knew the answers to his questions.
I imagined him as the epitome of the guy with a bunch of money who paid for his early C3 and has a corvette shop maintain it for him, where I'm the opposite. I have a later C3 and do the work myself so I can drive it and have fun.
Then I realized that was totally unfair and maybe he just has hearing problems and is the nicest guy in the world

I guess the bottom line is it really comes to personal standards. Anyone who doesn't meet your own personal standards is bubba.

One used the term "Afro American Engineering" without first looking to see who was standing within hearing distance........ Not a pleasant outcome.
The type cat who will even use a racial epithet generally doesn't care who hears them and will deal with the fall out if and when it happens, normally by being loud and running away.
Now what I am going to say is based on my own personal experiences owning corvettes over 30 years and "hanging out" in various circles of people.
The average owner of a c3 corvette is a middle aged white guy.
so the fellows at the car show wanting to try to blame c3 short cuts and hack job repairs on "blacks" which I gather they were trying to do from the use of that racial epithet "Afro American Engineering" need to get a clue and understand that hack job and short cut repairs on c3's are likely done by the middle aged white guys who own them....
