Default Question About 1971 Ignition Switches

My '71 has an accessory position on it's aftermarket STANDARD ignition switch but that position doesn't allow me to use my radio. I can only use my radio when the ignition switch is turned ON which means I'd have a 4 amp HEI drain. Do these 1971's even have an accessory position in their ignition switches or just a non-working detent for them?

Mine works on accessory. Is the radio wired correctly?

Its wired to the OEM radio HOT wire so it should be correct. My ignition switch has a detent right before the ON position and I'm wondering if that is the accessory position. Once its turned OFF it can't be rotated any further in that direction. I may just wire it into the BAT terminal on the fuse block and have it off the ignition circuit altogether.

I think it's the yellow wire to the radio that is for accessory.

Accessory position is counter clockwise from the off position. If it won't move to that position you probably need to loosen the two screws on the ignition switch on the steering column and slide it a bit. They are slotted for adjustment.

Yep you need to adjust ignition switch position.

Here you go- I mapped out the wires and you can verify them-
