Hello I was just wondering I have a white 1976 corvette and the bumpers have a yellowish look to them does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of that I put pictures bellow
The back bumper is definitely worse then the front bumper
My originals ...GM were discolored ....lacquer paint and urethane was always slightly off back in the day.....the different materials gave diff sheen or tone in various lighting.
Fortunately today , They can be repainted with better paints .
My front and rear match much closer with new covers than the original paint could
The fiberglass rear approximates the rest of the car and helps match the paint keeping a nice transition from rear glass to cover..
The correct way to fix it would be take the cover off and re paint . But, if I was taking the original cover off...that much trouble,,they warp and crack with time, I d put a tru flex or fiberglass back on ....so,I know it will match and I won't be doning it all again any time soon because the rubber rotted and fell off.
So if you fix the rear , I hope the front is matched .....or you'll have an odd paint scheme still.

Both have been repainted. Do you know what was used?
GOOD EYE!
The rear one can be prepped and re-shot without going through all the 'drama' of stripping. It will depend on its current condition....and if the paint chop can do the test to see if it is shot in lacquer.
The yellowing can be stopped with a sealer....if all you want to do is a 'scuff and squirt'.
