I can relate to your situation, as I had a similar experience two weeks ago when some 20-year old driving his moms Camry screams "Corvettes Suck" as I was making a turn. Good Gawd! What is going on with society? What would possess a person to go out of their way to tell someone they don't like your car, or house, dog, etc. I mean, why the extra effort to be a d*ck?!?! I don't give a &€£¥%# what a person may think about my car, as I didn't buy it to please anyone but myself.
While some are probably jealous, there are others who've encountered corvette owners who think owning a corvette makes them "all that" and act arrogant so some people want to diss the corvette owner on the assumption that he or she is an arrogant a-hole. They want to let the Corvette owner know that that car doesn't make them special.
We all know some chrome bumper C3 owners who think their car makes them pretty special.

Not fair...I have a chromie and I don't believe I act like the 2/3rd's of all vette owners regardless of year with this or that crappy "issue" with their character,
I hear you over the 35 plus years I have been into vettes I have met some great people but on average 2 out of 3 need to chill a bit that neither they or their car is the end all to be all they think it is.
with that said I do not go out of my way to gesture people, do you? two wrongs do not make a right or make it justified and the fellow giving the thumbs down has bigger issues to deal with than how he "might" have been treated by a vette owner butt hurt him so deeply that he takes time out of his day to make negative gestures at a cat who I believe it's safe to say didn't do anything at all to him.....
Actually the "3/4 Race Cam" is still alive and well in the Flathead Ford world'
Isky Max 1 is still available and advertised as such. I installed one in my 8BA Flathead. Attachment 47901118

I agree, the guy giving him the thumbs down was in the wrong - one shouldn't take out one's frustrations with a person in the past on anothr person that had nothing to do with it. Many C3 owners are great people its too bad that there are a few arrogant owners that give the wrong impression about all C3 owners.

A rube in a pickup (no, not everyone in a pickup is a rube) pulled up next to my former STS one morning yelling, "Is that all that piece of $&*% can do!?!", apparently having thought we were racing. Yeah, as if...
Anyway, don't let haters get to you. They're the ones with the problem.

Took the C3 out under the bright sunshine. Shades on. Beer Nuts cap spun around backwards. T-Tops off. Car is washed and looks nice. Went past a Chevy pickup that was waiting to make a left turn and the passenger (Young dude) gave me the big thumbs down (Arm fully extended out the window)
I was perplexed, and a little shook to be honest. lol. He must have been one of those hopped up 99 Dodge Neon guys. Or just a run of the mill idiot. 45 minutes later I got the nod from a rich guy in a pretty red C7. It's all good!
Jealousy. plain and simple. Got a similar reaction from a similar type.
But the C3's TURN HEADS and just as much or more so than a new vette. The younger kids LOVE them! I see kids pointing and smiling, at mine they love it. My 11 year old son says I'm famous at his grade school because when I come to eat lunch at this school sometimes I drive the C3. Got all the kids talking about it and they think it's a cool car. Besides, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, I personally couldn't give a rats *** what others think of my car. I enjoy it and that is what counts.
I loved it when a 8yr old girl and her mom walked past a red *** car and she said I like that color car, then she and mom walked past my sun faded flame orange vette and said "but that car is cooool!" haha
Since I posted this, there has been nothing but love and looks for the C3. Even let my big-mouth cousin Mike drive the car, He's a car guy with no car. Well he has a 2010 Camry if you can count that as a car! Haha!! He did acquire our grandmothers 78 Monte Carlo in 1988 and built a sweet small block for it. But that is the last "car" he had!
I think of your story and liken it to the prettiest and most popular girl in school....all the other girls are jealous and they always want to take the prettiest girl down a notch or two...even though her only crime is being pretty and never said a mean word to anyone.
I also think that the new generation of car owners (twenty-somethings) have little respect for older cars like Vettes. They like all their gadgetry and can't be without being connected all the time. These kids think those rice-rockets like supped up Honda's and Scions are the "it" cars. If they only knew what American muscle was like back in the day.
