Hey everybody, like everything else it's hard to get a straight answer from endless scrolling thru google so I turn to you guys. How do I connect my e brake? I know it probably under the car somewhere but if I could get a ballpark so I know where to look. Or maybe I just need a new cable all together. It has not worked since I owned the car... any help would be awesome.
You might want to add a little more detail on your question, and maybe even toss out the year of your car.
Parking brake cable runs from the handle in the car through the floor and around a nylon gear attached to the transmission cross member and then back towards the rear of the car.
At about the rear of the floor, there is a coupling that grabs a separate cable that goes out to each trailing arm. There is also a spring that attaches to the frame and that keeps the cable taught up to the handle
At the trailing arm, the cable sleeve clips to the outside of the arm and the inner part has a ball on the end that hooks into the lever that goes into the parking brake at the spindle hub
Inside the hub there is a set of pads a spring and a star adjusting wheel that sets the pads in the resting position.
Vettes are not known for their awesome parking brakes and frequently everything in the hub is rusted solid or rusted out.
Starting point for you anyway. Try to narrow your search from there

Amen. My 68 had all of the cables appearing OK, but the mechanism inside the hub looked like a bunch of bolts soaked in acid. New stainless steel shoes and adjusting mechanism I installed should make the brake live longer than me.
Very good input from all!
I also had a big, rusty, cracked & crapola park. brake components....replaced shoes w/ reg. steel & hdwe w/ stainless. Hadta lube both cables quite a bit w/ WD 40, then light oil to make 'em work REAL easy....hold nice now! OH YEAH...I naturally hadta replace both rear calipers, rotors, brake pads, stainless lines that to from the caliper to the rubber lines, as well as the rubber lines. NO problem bleeding myself, & have good firm stopping power!
Give a man a fish and you've fed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've fed him for a life time.
What if the man is allergic to or simply hates seafood?
While I understand your point I also find it a snarky waste of a post when a person asks a specific question and rather than answer someone tells them to go buy a manual...truth is I have owned and worked on vettes over 35 years never bought the manual..not saying they cant be helpful...but so could helping the person who asked a question by giving the answer then suggest buying a manual...if you must...
when you teach that man to fish you do at least once show him how to bait his hook...or perhaps in your case you tell him to go buy a book on how to fish
