Yeah its a beauty Scott! So how did you come out in the Ohio Muscle Car Challenge? I haven't seen the results.
My official combined time of 2:23.14 for the three events landed me in 6th place overall in (non-abs )class
I think they have me listed as 10th with 2:25 ? A math glitch I guess.
It was an awesome event....
I assume you directed that at me because I said I believe each person will decide for themselves what "pro touring" means, things posted on web sites are just some cats opinion I can have mine you can have yours, but if that all you got from my post and this thread, that is a bit sad,
You didnt add anything about pro touring...do you like the cars, hate the cars dont care either way?
It wasn't directed to anyone, just been here long enough how these threads go. We cannot agree on "original" afterall.
You are completely entitled to your opinion, although I disagree with some of it.
Not real sure what classifies as what. But I think all of the ones so for on this thread with photos are awesome in my book..... Not that my opinion matters....

You didnt add to the treads topic just tossed bread on the water for mullet to jump,
I am not sure why I have seen a trend on the forum of some people getting really butt chapped if someone doesnt agree with them 100%
The only point I was making is I do my own thinking if the next cat want to let someone tell him what this or that means that is fine just not my way, but I sure do not get all butt hurt if someone thinks for themselves and disgrees with me....
I built mine around the "original" pro touring idea...think of cars like "big red" or Mark Stielow's "mule". That is older cars with upgardes to enhance performance, so less weight, bigger wheels/tires, engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, aero mods ,etc. Its where function came first, not the bling. Over the past 7 or 8 years the big "hot rod" shops jumped on the band wagon and started producing these billet aluminum and chrome encrosted blingy muscle cars with oversize wheels that they label pro-touring but are far from what it started as.
and I'll also add if you get MAVtv (810 on Verizon) whatch the "Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car" which has Detroit Speed's "test cars" that are over built for performance but lack bling IMCO and see how well they perform against some late model rides.

You're the one getting worked up about a joke that wasn't even about you.

Lets not hijack the thread any further.
I'm not worked up...
And YOU are the one who started with the off topic posts high jacking the thread and still dragging it out so if YOU have it out of your system the rest of us talking about cars can move on....
Pro-Touring: A classic muscle car with upgraded and updated suspension components, brake system, drive train and aesthetics, including many of the creature comforts of a new car. Built to function as well or better than some of today’s best performance cars. Pro-Touring cars are built to be driven. Driven on the street, on the race track, on the drag strip, through cones at an auto-cross, no matter the setting, pro-touring cars are meant to be driven. [Generally speaking, late model cars are not considered pro-touring due to their factory designed suspension and brake packages.]
g-Machine: [once considered to mean the same thing as pro-touring, the term has now evolved to mean a slightly less refined pro-touring car] A classic muscle car with upgraded and updated suspension, brakes, drive train and aesthetics, generally lacking some of the creature comforts one would find in a pro-touring car, such as cup-holders, leather seats, etc., otherwise identical to a pro-touring car.
Thread save!!
I just can't get enough of Danny Popp's car!

Aren't Corvettes kinda pro touring from the factory? To me when I hear pro touring, I think of a car that was made to go fast in a straight line, re made to go fast in turns, which the Corvette already was designed for in the first place.
Sure they are, and resto mod pro touring road cars are just taking factory a step further....
Richard,
I like this car a lot too,
But does it "need" the wing most c3 racers do not run them

Its about aero balance, looking at the front with the large air dam and splitter, there's a ton of downforce there, so you would need something equally as effective on the rear to "balance" the car out. It's personal taste at some point as well...I was considering a C6r/7r style wing, but went with a taller blade rear spoiler and a diffuser instead (and for the haters...no I haven't put it in a wind tunnel to test the effectiveness)
Ok, I'll bite on this. I'm in the process of building mine, which I guess you could say, based on some of the definitions provided, that it is a pro-touring car.
Some of the modifications - Complete suspension rebuild with Vansteel, QA01 COs, strut rods, sways, Borgeson PS box, rebuilt 454 etc.
