Book value versus real world value

Please, I do not wish to sound argumentative but here in PA, I have quite a few friends who can't sell there toys for any where near what they were selling for pre 2008 market crash. Seems people are holding onto their loot. I'm not talking just C-3's but classic Harleys, and even fine firearms as well.
I'm kinda spread out in the hobby interests.

If they're not forced to sell they are just sitting on it.
But say a nice 69 Z-28 comes up?
Big Momma says no more cars.
Your trying like hell to sell your plane jane '69 no option clean driver c3
As frustration mounts because low ball offers are the only thing coming in and you really do not want to miss out on the Z.
You get it.
You just can't jump in and out of it as easily as you could in the past.
There's not the surplus $ out there in this area like I remember.
Just sayin.
