Default t-top years?

I've been going thru the boneyard looking for a non SMC t-top. Does the color of the Velcro tabs (Black vs White) have any bearing on year?

I have noticed that some have a range of years molded in and some don't. Some have a range that spread from the non SMC panels up past the SMC (post 73) years. Cna someone help me so I'm not stripping multiple tops?

Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kevin,
My 71 roof panels have white 'velcro' tabs.
Pop-riveted in place.
Regards,
Alan

68-71 should be press molded polyester. Possibly 72 for SMC tops. All body panels were SMC beginning with the 74s.

Thanks, my original (but unusable 71 ) tops have the White velcro tabs also. I have two very replacement tops I would like to use...one is noticeably a different material than the other. My issue is, I'm using gelcoat that is not compatable with SMC.

I know some of the "attributes" of SMC but at this point I'm not really 100% sure what is SMC and what isn't. Is there some small molding differences to tell for sure?

Kevin-

I am out of town until Monday but I have a stack of old tops. If you need one side or the other email me at support@Willcoxcorvette.com with which side and I'll look when I get back and see if I have it.

Do you need the gelcoat? Original panels had no gelcoat. A good quality primer/surfacer would serve the same purpose.
