Dark Red Steering Wheel
The red interior used in 82 was a dark red, not bright red like was often found in some of the earlier year Corvettes. The leather wheel should be the same color as the rest of the interior. If it is noticeably darker, than it's probably discolored from sun, air, age, or use.
All of the Corvette vendors can sell you a repro wheel, in the correct shade of red leather.
The dark red used in 82, was unique to the 81 Bowling Green Corvettes, and 82's. It was different than the dark reds used in earlier years.
The 82 reproduction wheel is available in the correct dark red leather. I don't want to run a fowl of the moderators, by naming names, but from a quick look at the internet, I found the dark red wheel at a number of Corvette vendors for $219.

82 was a darker red. There is an issue with the reproduction 82 red wheels (and all the 1977-1982 repro wheels) at this time. They were being imported and are on back order. From what I understand the only way to get one is to have a good core and let us re-wrap the leather. I'll have to check into this but you can email me at support@willcoxcorvette.com and I'll see if i can get an answer tomorrow.

Or, you can buy a black leather-wrapped C3-like wheel for about $100 and buy some SEM vinyl dye to recolor it as you need (about another $20-30). Just wipe down the leather with lacquer thinner before you shoot the new vinyl dye (to get rid of surface oils that will prevent adhesion) and your $100 wheel can match your interior like this...
