Default New Stingray specific forum

I hope it is not against forum rules to mention it but I just found a new site specific to the older C3 " STINGRAYS " which are 68-76 . I guess it includes 68 ( And it should ) even though it wasn't badged as a Stingray but still advertised as a Stingray by GM. I won't mention the name until and if it clears the administrators. I will enjoy the new site but it won't take me away from this one unless the administrators want rid of me.

Might be a good site but what is the value of a site based solely on a name. Is a 76 really that much more interesting than a 77? I think 68-72 is a logical choice but if you are going to 76 strictly based on the badge I would include them all. How about the C7 Stingray, are they included? This is the best C3 site anywhere.

I just think it is kinda cool that they are giving the recognition to the original C3 Stingray that it deserves. I think that's what it is all about , not offending anyone. Doesn't surprise me though that some people are going to take it personal and get offended.

Hi,
I've often thought that whether a car has the Stingray script or not is much ado about nothing.
They're 68-82 Corvettes, and with-in those years there are many similarities and many differences…. none of them having to do with the car having the script or not.
Time will tell about a new site/forum.
Regards,
Alan

There are a number of C3 (and other) Corvette Fora already. I can't see what a new one would add.

Nothing against proud owners of "Stingray" badged C3s (I've owned a couple myself), but I'd rather not associate with the type who feel theirs is any more a Corvette than the next one because they happen to have a particular emblem, and which is my exact perception of such a site. Think I'll put a couple on my '78 just to p--- them all off.

I don't plan on going anywhere either Roy . Even though I visit all of the forums already , this forum is my favorite and most used too . I just welcome new ones too. There can never be too many.

Since this is always a sensitive subject no matter how you break it down your going too offend someone. Since the first stingrays all came with chrome bumpers before the rubber bumpers were introduced probably what would make sense would be 68-72 but that would ruffle even more feathers and after all the badging did continue through 76.

If I'm not mistaken the 68 did not come with the Stingray emblem. So how can it be included and not the rest of the C3 cars?

Simple , It was advertised by GM in their showroom brochures as a Stingray and in some as a StingRay ( Both Spellings ) GM couldn't even make up their mind what they were. I think they forgot to put the emblems on .

The forum does in fact have rules against linking other Corvette sites:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ate-links.html

Inappropriate links:

Before posting a video, (gif), or link, on the CF, please check the website to determine if it contains any material that violates any of these forum rules:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1130391
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1118174
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1118164

Although the video may be appropriate for the forum, other links on the site may not be.

The sites cannot contain: profanity, sexual images, inappropriate images (babe pic's), graphic/offensive material, etc. Moderators have the final say in their appropriateness for the good of the forum.

Members need to remember that if you cannot post anything against the forum rules directly in the thread, you cannot link to it either.

Members who quote the inappropriate link/images or comments in their reply, are held equally accountable as the member who originally posted it.

Linking to other Corvette sites is not permitted. Neither is linking to non-supporting vendors or other commercial sites.

If you are unsure about something you are thinking about posting, don't post it and PM a Moderator for prior approval.
--------------------

Between that and the obvious friction brewing here regarding 69-76 Corvettes and other years, Stingrays vs non-Stingray, etc, I think this thread has probably run its course.
