Thought I would introduce myself and my new to me car.
Just had this gem dropped off yesterday. 78 350 auto originally grey.
Interior is in real good condition. Some bad rust on the LH frame where it turns up before the rear wheel. Frame off this winter to get the frame taken care of. Has had some damage on the front end in front of the Rh light. Fixed but not very well. Light doesn't go down in the hole all the way. Needs some broke parts replaces and and adjusted and little glass work.
Worked for GM late 80s to late 90s. Not original engine. Going to look at a 95 LT1 with all accessories next week, engine knock, hoping its just a rod. Maybe put a Megasquirt ECM on it 650 for the LT1 payed 5200 can. for the vett, cover, book, small box of parts.
You will see more of me this winter, im sure.
Sorry for the less than stellar photos.

Hi D,
FIRST POST! WELCOME!
The car actually looks pretty nice in the pictures and if that's your shop you'll have a good place to work on it.
I hope you can continue to post pictures as you progress because it's interesting to follow along with what folks are doing.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Welcome! Just a bit of a warning, once the body comes off you will probably find yourself replacing and repairing things you may not have planned on. It is a great time to do a lot of these things but plan ahead for time and money.
Great looking car. Have fun!

Thanks all.
Got it insured and registered and took it for a couple of rips. Pull to left under accell and right under decell.
Jacked the car up and had a good look at everything. The LH rear wheel had about 1/2" play, Wheel brgs are shot. Also found a brake line leaking in the LH rear where the frame kicks up and is rusty.

I decided its too much to get fixed before winter hits. Sooooo Off with the insurance.

Yesterday I removed all of the front end weight that will hang on the fenders when the body is removed. Needs light work and some minor glass work anyway.
Pretty much got the body ready to come off, just need to remove the aluminum rocker molding so I can lift on the body.

I also found that the car was hit on the LH front wheel. Probly curb.
The lower A arm pushed the mounts out of align at one time. Looks like it had been straightened but it could use a little more work. Has more shims in the upper than the other side as well.

Once I have the body off I will have to decide to repair or replace.
Frames are pretty rare around my parts. So I may have to make one out of 2 if I go that rout.
Picks to come.

Oh and the rear body mount area the fiberglass is cracked and needs some glass work. Along with the metal reinforcement.
Is the area hear OK to repair with normal resin and matting?
Thanks Stephen

Oh and another question 1980 frame. Are there any mods that have to be done to fit the 78 body?
