Brand new here. Name's aaron and i was finally able to buy my dream car yesterday, a 73 stingray!
After hauling it back to my place for two hours on a trailer i found like 5 spiders on it and im sure they're in it too. AWESOME.
I've seen topics on bug bombing and even a nifty "fill your garage with co2 by use of dry ice to kill everything" trick. Ive also got a meeting set up with a pest company in town that does autos too.
Figured i'd hit you guys up for all the info i can get. I don't know if certain chemicals will hurt the paint or if there's anything to be on the watch for.
I'm in fl and see a roach now and then and normally keep a roach bait trap under the seat, I would hate the smell of bug spray or bombs in the car,
I never heard the one about dry ice for bug killing but used tons of the stuff in my club/band daze.
I recently bought an SUV that had a roach problem.... bad, I immediately went to the dollar store and picked up bug bombs and roach traps. I set off bombs one at a time 3 days in a row. Bugs are all gone, no electrical problems, no residue or smell. You could see the fog coming out of the a/c vent outside the truck, so it was pretty thorough.I would assume this is what the pest company will do. I would make sure all compartments are open and floor mats are out.
Beautiful car every now and then I use bug bomb in my garage so I just leave the windows down in the Vette, problem solved. Like 7d8 said, I've not noticed any residual smell or oily mess...
Welcome to the site! Sort of gives another meaning of getting the bugs out of a new ride! There must be a nest of them so I would try to hunt them down first and remove them. Awesome looking car! Good luck!
You guys must not use the bug bombs I have dealt with but I like my car smelling like incense so I just do not put other things that stink to me in it...

I use the "sprig" air fresheners, they are hard to find (the ones in the little glass bottles) but I have a few that a friend in Hawaii sent me a few years back, they obviously go a long way
Thanks for all the kind words! Im abolutely in love with it. I wanted the early split back bumper and I wanted a color you dont see to much and I got it lol

The two 'el primo' spots for bugs to nest would be 1) under the seats; and 2) in the heater plenum and ducting.
If you have found several already, there must be a nest and you either have to find it and remove it or 'bomb' it. Just putting traps around to ****** a few won't stop eggs from hatching and a new batch from showing up.
I use Ortho home defense and spray it on the floor under and around my Vette in the garage every couple months, otherwise I suck up spiders with a vacuum cleaner or spray them as necessary when I see them getting busy.
I've used bug "Raid Fogger" type bombs in my boat's interior living area for the past several years with no smell or residue.
Only concern would be that when you set it off, standing upright as directed, it sprays at least a few feet in the air. If the t-tops were on it may coat or soak them. ..the idea to open the windows / t tops off and bomb the garage may not be a bad idea (or better yet for more concentration, make a small bay out of cheap plastic sheeting at Home Depot and bomb inside it)
