Default Another Mystery Wire

1969 Corvette L46 with AC, alarm and power windows

This ugly little connector comes out of my firewall's 4 hole grommet.

I don't remember what it connects to.

Can someone help me please?

This is my last mysterious wire (in the engine compartment)

Thanks for your help

Hi b,
I agree with MW that the female connector is for the backup light connector.
The switch on the transmission has a long lead with male connector on it that comes up through the transmission tunnel to make that connection.
Regards,
Alan

the reason I recognized that is because ages ago my directional signals would stop working because the fuse blew. Eventually discovered the fuse only blew when I put the car in reverse. Discovered the reverse light wire harness was touching the headers and had grounded out.

Had the exact same problem, wire grounding...it started occurring after I dropped my gas tank, oddly enough..
