The pad looks good to me...except for the bounced stamp strike, especially when compared to the other pad 22 units away. Pads look similar

you just need to buy it at the right price..

if you require the pedigree, then confirm the pedigree before you buy...

if you are looking for a original engine car with no excuses.. this ain't the one. but keep in mind that it is extremely hard to find a car with no excuses at a reasonable price.

That's what's holding me back from buying it....someday when I go to sell, I'll have to answer all the same questions about the block that I am now asking.

What would be a fair price to pay for this car...69 coupe 427 390hp, 4 spd power windows brakes steering and A/C.

No rust on frame or birdcage

A few pics:

Thanks for your opinions, as always

The simple fact is it CAN'T be a cast surface. The blocks have to be broached or the heads would not seat correctly on top of the block. Factory broach lines are parallel as the block was cut straight across. If the block was decked latter on it may have circular patterns as most shops have a circular cutter.

Just a completely novice insight but if you were to restamp an engine wouldn't you make sure you do it well enough not to raise suspicion? I would think if this "bounce" occurred at the factory they would be like WGAF but if you were trying to pull one over on someone you would redo it. Just my 2 cents.

What you said is true and does make sense...until you see some restamps..... Some are just so bad they are laughable.
However, in this case, I think its a good chance its legit.
