I assume you're talking about the inside rear view mirror. I'd try a local glass shop that replaces windshields and ask what they use when they need it.
Some use silicone - I used an adhesive called "Goop" LoL.
I repaired my wobbly side view mirrors by soaking them in paint thinner until the glass mirror fell off. I eliminated the "looseness" and the mirrors flopping, by slipping a stainless steel washer between the mounting ball and steel strap which holds it in place. It was very difficult to slip the washer into place - I bent two or three attempting it - but when I got one into place it made the ball fit SUPER TIGHT and the mirror no longer droops or is affected by the wind.
Then glued the glass back in place with the "Goop"
Yeah I pressed the rivet tighter. Wasn't much holding it on one side. I did one before but the mirror finally fell out lucky it didn't hit side of car.
Ultra Black RTV on the pins that mount up to the backside of the mirror. But, you need to set the front side of the mirror on a tabletop or other horizontal surface so that the mirror does not flex while the adhesive is curing. Then, set the mirror body on top (get creative on how to do that and keep it in place for the cure).
If you just place the mirror down over the pins, the weight of the mirror will cause it to sag (just a tiny bit) as the adhesive cures. In use, you will see a somewhat distorted image.
I was thinking of using some clamps and wood scraps. So u are saying mirror face down and prop the base . I think I used the Black Permatex on another one and it only lasted a while and let go. What about liquid nails or something like that?
