I'm installing a new E-brake console in my 76. What's the trick to getting the slider onto the brake lever. The handle is to big to pass thru the rectangular hole in the slider and I don't see how the handle is removed from the lever.
Also, is the one screw that secures the rear center of the console accessable from under the car.
1. The screw is accessible from the rear compartment. Remove the jack compartment storage container and reach in.
2. Doesn't the slider have a cut in the side to permit it to slip around the handle?
All sliders come with a split on one side so the easily fit around the brake handle. I have sold 100's of them
Look at the slider carefully and you'll see that it has a split. Without this split you can't install it and you wouldn't believe how many customers get them and call because they think the slider is defective.
As far as the slider, upon closer inspection I see a partial parting line on the underside of mine. I'll have to complete the cut into the handle area. I purchased this one from Mid America.
Thanks for the guidence fellas. Gotta luv this forum!!
Put everything back together but . . . . . . the front of the slider runs into the back of the shifter console when the E-brake lever is disengaged. It's like the slider has no where to go.
Hi jnb,
If you take a car apart far enough, often enough, you end up with pictures like those….
plus paying attention to what people are asking about.
