Default Seat Belts

My 69 Coupe arrived today. One of the issues is that the seat belts are 46 years old and only lap belts. I thought that all coupes came with shoulder belts... Anyway, I want modern retractable seat belts. I read somewhere where people were using the seat belts from the rear seat of late 90's Camaros. I did a google search for them and found this web site...
https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/

Has anyone done business with them. The prices aren't half bad. I just don't know what options to choose.

seat belts in old cars serve the same purpose as seat belts in air plains. they just keep your body close to the wreckage. have your seat belts professionally restored

PLEASE...always post your year model due to numerous changes. So the correct or proper advice can be given instead of having to hunt through your profile to find out what you have.

Your 1969 Corvette seats do not look like the photos above. So there is no cut outs due to 1969 seats have or can have headrests in them.

I myself would agree with 'Nowhere Man'. I would prefer to get them restored.

Mooser, 68 coupes did come standard with shoulder harnesses. But they did not move at all and are very confining. Lou.

Sorry! Revised now.

The only thing I have is lap belts. I want shoulder belts. I want modern seat belts. I'm not looking for authentic, I want safe and comfortable.

Seatbelt planet has a nice set up.. I've been to their place since it is only a 10min drive from my house. Had a solution for my 78 cherokee. They will be redoing the belts in my 76 when I decide to go custom color route.

Unless you reengineer your car to adapt those belts it's doing more harm then good. There's more to it then just buying new belts and arbitrarily mounting them.

Do search on the forum for Camaro seat belts. Lots of us have used them, they work well. It's the rear seat 93-02 belts you want.

Just finished installing this set a few days ago:

http://www.zip-corvette.com/catalog/...buckle-117c7d/

like you I have a 69 and the lap belts were pretty bad and I wanted something safer. Someone recommended Seatbelt Solutions so I found some of thier products and couldnt be happier. Had a small issue with the sensitivity on one retractor and they sent me a new one. I would recommend them just based on thier customer service alone...the fact that its a solid product helps

Yes. That is what I want. I'd rather get something specifically for my car and with everything that is needed to get it installed.

I don't think I'm reengineering the car. It should have had shoulder belts according to what I've read. It currently doesn't, soI'm going to get some and with retractors.

It was a option and became standard later on. And that only applies to stock 69 belts anything else is just a guess. Hopefully you never need them but if you do if you don't have it right it can do more harm then good. You might want to read up on the physics and engineering aspects behind it.

RPO# A85 Custom Shoulder Belts (Std with Coupe)

So all Coupes supposed to have shoulder belts. they were options on the convertibles.

Your car is 45+ years old a lot of things can happen. Why not just buy restored stock belts and make it easy on your self

Yep- I can't tell you how many Bubba's have just removed the cable underneath the car because it wasn't doing anything...

While shopping I saw that cable and the bracket. What is it for exactly?

That is the seat belt center cable which connects the inner seat belt reinforcement plates with the frame. It gives the inner seat belts something more to attach to than just the floor pans.
