You can never be too careful!
That is a sobering reminder. I hope no one got hurt.

That was typical with those Toyota trucks. Many of those trucks were still fairly new and the bodies looked perfect but the frames were what you see in this picture. Toyota was buying the trucks back. Many were coming into my shop and asking for repairs before they heard that Toyota was buying them back . I refused to touch them.

I also try to avoid China products, but I suspect operator error with the four post lifts. When lowering the car if all four safety latches are not released, the lift will come down at an angle and eventually, I think collapse. I always pay close attention to the safety latches being properly released and that the lift is going down level. I always make sure all four safety latches are properly seated after I lift the car and before I get under it.

Burning Brakes
I would never get under a vehicle with something from China holding it up (not even with two somethings from China holding it up). Depending on the job, I use metal ramps, two jackstands and a Lincoln floor jack, all made in USA.

Sadly, I attended my nephews funeral a few weeks ago who died because the truck he was working on fell off some bottle jacks and crushed him. Please don't take chances, or be in a hurry.

People seem to not stop and take time to THINK.
As for the truck...no one knows if there was anything inside the bed adding excessive weight in relation to where the support was located....AND why is it that people do not use the safety stand when the car is up in the air.
I have been in some shops in my town where I have seen the four post lifts were NOT anchored to the floor at all. Hurry up and get it in and working and NOT worry that it is SOLIDLY ANCHORED.
And how many people with lifts ACTUALLY INSPECT THEM. When i inspect mine....I am LOOKING for a problem...and NOT just taking a quick glance.
