I have a 69 radio with poor response to the action of the push buttons. The tunning **** works great it moves the needle and station selection with very little restiance. When you set the buttons to different stations and try to use the button to change stations major restiance, they try's to move the needle but to much drag. Is there anyway to clean or adjust the tunning mechanism to correct this problem? I don't want to do any major repair if I don't have to. Corvette radios are not that great to start with I could use it like it is but I would prefer it to work as intended.
Hi B,
With the radio out of the car the front 'cover' can be easily removed.
This will give you some improved access to the push button mechanism and perhaps you'll be able to determine what's causing binding.
Good Luck!

Alan
I don't have a good answer to your question, but can add that when my radio was out I took it apart and was looking at how everything works. My pushbuttons had been stuck and while seeing what was going on I gained the confidence to push the buttons with some extra force. This loosened something up and ever since the buttons work fine.

Alan, thanks for the information I removed the front cover and exposed the slide aragements of the buttons everything looks great no rust hardly any excess dirt or gunk. I can move the slide arrangement with extra force and I don't see anything that would cause the resistance except just not being used for over 40 years.

I have to agree your response seems to be the same results that I have discovered after taking the front cover off and observed how the push buttons control the selection of the stations.
