Is GM going to sell it claiming it is a movie car?
It will be interesting to see if BJ will allow it to sell since they pride themselves on selling only cars with provenance.
And I'm going to come out and say it...I love the Corvette Summer car. My dad took me to see the movie in the theater when I was 6. That car was the coolest thing I had ever seen (for a 6 year old) and I still have a soft spot for it.
The show is a farce. I have yet to see one build that they've done that I liked.
Show the show is a farce because they have yet to build a car that YOU like. Maybe others like the builds. so if you don't like it others shouldn't also.

Some of the replies in this thread sound a lot like grumpy old men standing on the porch yelling "get off my grass" to the neighborhood kids.
Gas Monkey is nothing more than entertainment, and perhaps with a little luck it will bring more young people into the sport of hot rods. I see that as a win-win. Your mileage may very.

Reason: spelling
Back in the '70's, I used to see this car parked in a facility along Cahuenga Blvd across the 101 Freeway from Universal City whenever I would drive by. IIRC, they had a few movie cars in there.
Also, IIRC, this was not a Corvette.

Maybe so....but kids believe everything they see.....
If you have a bunch of Greenhorns standing around you in real life wanting to know...do you tell them a bunch of BS....or do you give them the benefit of a straight answer?
Gas Monkey is BS......and the amount of people that believe it is staggering. Then they want to argue with me about it....because they saw it on Gas Monkey.....
It is like watching CNN for automobiles.....
I enjoy watching Gas Monkey but don't like what they modify on most of the cars that they work on. I'm not in to the lowered, air ride look, that they often do.
They don't seem to know much about Corvettes. They refurbished a 64, put redlines on it (huh?) and thought it was going to bring $140K. No way. It sold for $77K which was good money for that car.

No the show isn't a farce because I don't like their builds it's a farce because the whole thing is staged especially their buying negotiations. I also said I haven't seen one build that I have liked. I didn't say that you or anyone else shouldn't like it because I don't it's just my opinion. Are we allowed to comment on any of these threads or do we have to check with you first to see if it passes your scrutiny?

I saw this car at the Corvette museum in Cooperstown in about 1998. Talk about hokey. The 'Fangs' up front were damn near falling off. My favorite part was the fake blower and exhaust pipes stuck to the rear deck.

Keep in mind, GM does not own the Corvette Summer cars. They are privately owned customs.

While B-J loves the cars with provenance, I do not believe it's true that they sell "only" cars with provenance.
I've been to a lot of the B-J events and they sell a lot of cars. Not all have provenance.
