Hi All,
My power steering is getting glitchy on my 71, as I turn the wheel it has power then no power, power then no power every 2-3 seconds as the wheel is turned. Wondering if its the power steering pump or the control valve at the rack. Any one have experience with this? I don't want to start changing the whole system part by part.
Thanks,
Charles

ASSUMING that your pwoer steering belt tension is correct....and the power steering pump is not moving around a due to not being firmly secured to the engine...and that your hoses are CORRECTLY routed and NOT kinking...and VISUALLY WATCHING them when someone turns the wheel and lets you know when it gets in the bind....and you have fluid in the pump....and when the engine is running you can see the fluid swirling. ...and when you are turning the wheel it is NOT HOWLING... I would suspect that it is the valve inside your pump possibly sticking.
