Default ,69 Dash Vent Ball

Starting to put my dash back together. I've rebuilt the vent adapters and have new vent ***** including new felt. I also have new lower dash units for both sides. I've tried to attach the ball and vent adapter to the back of the dash and everything appears to be too tight. Is this due to the new felt? I was trying to be so careful but broke one of the tabs off of the vent adapter I have spare vent adapter. I know this old plastic is so easy to break. Is there a secret to this?

Gus,

What I 'bolded' out is the problem. I know the assemblies you are referring to....and when you have them out of the dash and together...they more than likely work CORRECT ...IF...the felts were installed correctly and the correct thin felts were used.

IF the assembly WORKS when it is NOT installed....BUT when you go and put it in there is a 'problem'. Usually it can be how the dash panel was made..and the foam used in its process can be getting in the way of allowing the primary vent ball mount to go in correctly....or it is the actual dash panel itself and how it has been made and IF the areas for the three screws for your vent ball assembly are correct. It does not take much to throw off this area.

If you still have the origianls...look a them side by side and compare the two.

Keep this in mind and is something that I FIRMLY believe in...only because it is true.

"95% of the time.....companies who reproduce parts....reproduce them to being 95% of perfect.....and it takes 95% of my TIME to finish out and fix that LAST 5% to make it RIGHT."

DUB

I split the felt and everything fits as it should.

Thanks for the help.
