Hi Guys, i need just a little help. I've found this '68 with a Chevrolet 350 engine as described. It's clearly a non-matching number, but I'm not able to find out what engine is.
Someone could help me? Many thanks!
Hi P,
From the information given and the pictures there's no way to tell what the engine is now or was originally.
It has some aftermarket parts on it ; for instance the intake manifold.
The oil fill is still through the intake which was a 327 method not a 350 method. The change in valve covers could have necessitated that. But???
A picture of the engine's stamp pad MAY help determine WHAT this engine started it's life as.
Regards,
Alan
All I can add is that the heads do not have accessory bolt holes in them.....this suggests a pre 1972 engine.....
Even so.....the cylinder head casting numbers would have to be checked against the casting number on the bellhousing boss.
I would kindly ask them if they could provide this info.....and if not....walk away.
Contact the seller and ask about the engine. There should be an engine identification stamp on the pad. FWIW: it has a 68 327 intake manifold installed on it.
Both rear strut rods are bent.
The AC compressor is missing.
Never use tie wraps to hold the spark plug wires together.
The heater hose on the front of the intake plugged with a fitting, does the heater core have a leak?
I have no clue if this seller is a supporting member here or not....I will say when I was hunting my 70-72 Vette I looked at quite a few of their ads and came to the conclusion that I would no longer even look at Vette's they had listed.....Just way too many things that smelled of a slimy used car lot. Just look at the undercarriage pics, I've seen better spray can work done by Bubba. JMO and I my get slammed for it but I'm just trying to help a fellow member out.
Funny how all of the interior pics are a little blurry and the exterior pics are sharp.
as a photographer for hobby I can understand it, because most automatic digital cameras automatically regulate exposure by brightness. If you shot a black subject the camera automatically set a longer exposure and the photo gets blurry and burned in the less dark details. The white of the body cause less problems because the sensors could detect better the scene brightness level.
That's a pure explanation however, nothing to do with the car or the seller itself
Hi Pi,
Here are the possibilities:
HH 1965 327 s h/p, m/t 365 4 Vette
HH 1966 327 air inj. reactor 300 4 Vette
HH 1969 350 tur 400 300 4 full size

Hi,
Perhaps the picture showing the oil pan is an example of one of some 'used Corvette dealer's popular phrases'… car underwent a "high dollar restoration"…. a can of black paint AND ALSO a can of orange paint!

Alan
