Hi All,
I've got a '71 base vette with power steering. The steering is making sounds while turning. It is also hard to steer. I was told this was symptomatic of a control valve issue. I know the car has sat for probably 10+ years before coming out of storage. Would a control valve rebuild kit work or do you think its best to just get a new one? I'm pretty mechanically inclined but have never rebuilt one of these before.
I rebuilt mine a couple of years ago because it was leaking. Bought the kit from Wilcox and watched his video. It was not that hard at all and no more leaks. It may be dry seals causing your problem. Its worth a shot.
