If I pulled the rear spring and leave the rest of the suspension components. Can I put the car back on the ground without hurting anything? I don't plan to drive it anywhere I just need another set of jack stands before I do my next job.
I don't think so...you can put a large block of wood under the differential where the spring bolted on and let the car rest on it...don't use a cinder block---they can crush without any warning!
Hi D,
If you put the car back on the ground without the spring installed it will go down until the trailing arms hit the rubber bump stops.
I don't know if that happens before or after the crossmember hit's the ground.
The tail pipes, if on the car, will probably hit first.
A couple of 6x6 blocks of wood are a good idea.
Regards,
Alan
