Default Weatherstrip install

Just got my weatherstrip kit for my 69 corvette convertible. All the weatherstrip was removed from the car before it was painted by the previous owner so I don't have a map of where everything goes. I mean it's only the hood, 2 doors, rear hatch, a pillars and body lock right? Yeah I know, I can figure where everything goes and it's all labeled my concern is am I missing some small item that goes before the weatherstrip. Here is a picture of my driver side a pillar can anyone send me a close up of their a pillar showing the weatherstrip installed, I can't tell if there a piece missing on mine. Thanks

FWIW: the AIM shows the installation of all weatherstripping. Keep in mind, the door mains have a couple or three trim screws to install. If memory serves, there are two possible choices (early and late) for the pieces at the front corners of the deck lid.

Hi v62,
I wouldn't even attempt to install the weatherstrip on a car without having the appropriate pages from the Assembly Instruction Manual in front of me.
All the strips have screws of various configuration that are used in addition to the adhesive to install them. Some of the screws are hidden by the weatherstrip itself.
I 'believe' I can see from the picture that you're missing the retainer that the weatherstrip is glued into before that retainer is screwed to the windshield post.
Regards,
Alan

This is a 71
This is the retainer strip coming off so you can see what it looks like.

Thanks guys I have the build manual to follow but I always like to see the item not a drawing. Great pictures Alan now I know why the pillar pieces did not look right when I test fit them. I need to find that retainer, I have all the screws. Does anyone know what it's called or a part number? I'll search a pillar weatherstrip retainer and see what I can find. Thanks again, great info and pictures.

Hi v62,
The part is called out in the AIM. UPC1 Sheet F9 Item 2, Retainer.
There are lefts and rights.
3966639-0
I don't think they're being reproduced so you'll need to call around to the vendors for a used pair.
Regards,
Alan

Default Weather stripping done.

Well, Thanks to all for the input, I have installed all the weather stripping and have adjusted the glass. Now I'm on to the doors and the seats next.

I purchased it from a local corvette shop, but it's labeled CRC for corvette rubber company. You can get the same from Willcox or Corvette America.

Thanks Alan,

Next will be to detail engine compartment, check, adjust and fix mechanicals. Hoping to have it on the road this summer.

Thanks

Hi Robert,
Detailing the engine compartment is a bit of work but generally quite rewarding since that's often the second thing people look at!
Carry On!

Alan

Default Engine Detail started

I don't want to call it a detail but more of an appearance improvement. The car came with an Edelbrock Performer intake so I cleaned it and replaced the thermostat plus the housing, put a new fuel pump, new fuel lines to carb, a correct carb and the correct valve covers. Here is the before picture, and I still have more to do so this is a preliminary.
