1969 corvette L46 with AC

Is there any documentation which specifies the overall sequence of assembly of the C3's?

Seems like that would be valuable info for "frame offers".

I would be interested as well.

Thanks

Do you mean assembly plant sequence? Noland Adams outlined the C2 assembly sequence in his Restoration Guide Volume II. That sequence did not change much for C3s.

Birthplace of Legends has a diagram of the assembly line circa 1968 and a list of items/parts installed along various sections of the line.

Hi B.
I think the whole idea of "body off" comes from the layout of the St.Louis plant.
There were various parts of the car being worked on simultaneously in different areas of the plant.
The body and chassis met for the first time at 'body drop' and then went on the way to being finished.
John Hinkley, member JohnZ, has a terrific presentation about building Corvettes at St.Louis in the 60's.
Here's a drawing and some pics from that presentation… they certainly gives some insight into the 'sequence'.
Another good book about 'sequence' is Corvette Restoration, State of the Art, by Michael Antonick. It explains David Burroughs philosophy of "restoration", and the sequence he followed.
Regards,
Alan

Sub assemblies.

The Frame Line.

Engine Drop.

Body Drop. Note how complete the exterior is.

Toe-in being set.
