Default Extra lights ?

HI - 70 vert, 350/350 4-speed - front headlights, front directional lights, side marker lights all work. Behind the front grills on each side there is a small round socket with a vertical and horizontal female type of connection. What is this? Thanks

I'll guess it's actually for the headlight up/down switch
Frequently broken off since they are plastic

Probably Alans' picture (red and beautiful) but that switch in the middle turns on the lamp on the dash as the headlight rises and then goes out when they are fully up

Here's the connector and switch. Does it look like what you're seeing?

Yes this is what the connector looks like. What is the best way of connecting this connector? From the bottom? Headlights up or down. Thanks !!

Hi 70,
Is the switch there?
The access is either reaching up from the bottom or removing the front grill and reaching in from the front.
I'd try from the bottom first.

Alan

You can reach them by laying on the ground and looking up. If the switches are in place and either broken or misaligned, once you attach the plug, the headlight warning light in the center console will go on and stay on.
The simple way of getting the warning light to stay off is by unplugging the switch.
It's also easy to troubleshoot the left and right switch, just plug them in one at a time and see if the center light stays on or not.

Example - Headlight warning light is on all of the time. You look under the headlights and find the right switch is broken. Instead of driving around with the headlight warning light on all of the time while you order a new switch, just unplug the right switch and the light will go off and still function correctly using only the left switch.

This is great info. So when the lights are in the up position, the red dash light should stay on until the healights are lowered - correct? With the installation, should lights be in the up or down position when you install a new switch? Does anyone know if the switch comes with the nut to hold it in the bracket? Thanks

The dash light is powered through the headlight switch circuit

The dash light is off when the lights are off.

When you turn the lights on, the dash light should come on and stay on until both headlights are all the way up, then it shuts off since both switches are triggered.

When you turn the lights off, the dash light goes out regardless of what happens to the actual headlights (closed or not)
