Default Curt's projerct 79 vette

I have a 79 vette that I have taken down to frame. The car was in very decent shape bought had water damage. I am not sure what way I want to go. The original engine is rebuilt but thinking of going to a big block. The odometer says a little over 31k and I am thinking that is correct by the condition of the car.

engine done for 79

The 79 when I bought it

The engine bay

Inside of the engine of the 79

Frame of the 79

The frame stripped.

Hey Curt welcome to the Forum! You have a great looking project, and obviously you are into it up to the elbows now! WOW! Looking good! "While you are there" make sure you check those suspension and steering parts. AS has been repeated around here, make it safe, make it go, make it stop, make it steer, make it go faster! Good to see some corporation blue too! There is ALOT of "Which way should I go now?" questions along the way, and a few "WHAT IS THIS?" and you will probably run into Bubba along the way. The guys are the forum here have a wealth of knowledge and are glad to share it, so avail yourself to it! And they are all photo junkies, so please keep them calm with a steady fix of pics. And when you ask questions, be sure to tell them what year and model etc you are working on, and as much as possible - you guessed it! - include a picture! Good source for parts too. Have a great day and will be checking in later.

I will be looking forward to all the help I can get. It is definitely a work in progress. I hope to send the frame out to be sand blasted in the next couple of weeks. I was going to do it myself, but it is cheaper and huge time saver to have someone else do it.

Looks like you ds #3 body mount gave you a fit and still might in the days ahead. Looks like a donor parts car in the background too?

One thing ( amoung a thousand others) to think about for in the future is the fuel lines. If you have any remote thoughts of going fuel injected down the road, now is the time to put bigger lines in. If you look at any threads about fuel lines, now is the time, with the body off. A small item in the grand plan, but something you will be glad you did. Just my $.02. Good luck on the project and take your time. The trip is half the fun of getting there.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely think about it. I really dont have a time frame, so taking my time is what I will do.

Yes, it did give me a challenge. The nut spun free of case. I used a reciprocating saw to cut the head off. Yes I had actually 3 donor cars at one time. Bought all three for a bargain price. Frames were bad on two the third was just a shell, but good wiring harness. I eventually stripped all three down to nothing. My fathers garage is now loaded witjh parts. Lol
