The dirtball vette is BACK!
Been a little while since I last posted, but I got the vette all repaired after my accident in February. Well mehanicaly anyways... the body work is going to have to wait...

Now for the fun stuff!
My local region SCCA club had it's fist autocross event yesterday. Over 100 entries and a good mix of cars

I am still sorting through all of the pics, but I did get my runs on video. Here is run #4 in the rain
Also I took our freind Rachel out for her first ride in the vette and her first ever autocross experience! The video is on my YouTube channel, but she lets one mild explitive slip... so I'm not sure how that works with forum rules.
Now for the REALY FUN stuff:
On April 3rd the local SCCA held another rallycross event. It was at a new location, which happened to be an unplanted corn field. Unfortunately the ground was VERY sandy soil and it got deep quick! Several of the competitors got stuck in the silt, but it made for epic pictures!

Unfortunately due to technical issues I only got my first run on video:
Well that is it for now.... hope to get more pics up soon!
Despite what you may or may not think about me out there playing in the dirt, it is hard not to admit those rally shots are great!
Andy: You were either up really late... or really early. How are things going? I need to get back over to your thread and see what you have been up to!
Andy and Mavericmk: I realize that to most people on this forum and out in the word, these cars are the realization of a life long dream. Something they have ALWAYS wanted... Or in many cases they are a treasured part of ones past with more memories wrapped up in that fiberglass than anyone can count. Things that need to be treasured and taken care of.
I have said before, I never thought I would have one. My dad always wanted a 78, but it was always 'too expensive' and out of reach. I never gave Corvettes much thought until just before I got mine... Don't get me wrong I love having my Vette. I thought, I just don't have that emotional connection.
But, I was wrong.... What I am doing/building IS what I have ALWAYS wanted! An all out, go anywhere - do anything, street legal race car! When ever my mind starts to wonder and I think about my 'ideal' money is not object build, it always comes back to a stripped out, purpose built machine.
Richard: I had no choice! The new wheels didn't go with the rest of the car all shiny and clean!

Enjoy that thing. That's what it's all about.

My plan is to go to the SCCA rallycross nationals, It is only 2.5hrs from home this year. I figure showing up with the Vette in full rally trim... it's going to be all over the Internet

You should send your friend a link to this thread and see what he says!

Vettes on the river was a great show, the LaClair venue is beautiful. We didn't go last year, but as long as it doesn't over lap rally nationals, I plan on being there. I havent seen dates for it yet... definitely keep in touch and we will see about meeting up.
Also planning on heading over for the last day of power tour in KC, to meet up with Richard454

I am not going to make the power tour again this year. :-(
I sent my friend a picture of your car ripping up the dirt. :-)
See you around.

Let me know what your friend says... good or bad
I got a little confident on the back side of the cross-thru, then tapped the brakes and the next corner and well..... It is very clear: I am NOT the Stig!

Still working on the pics, misplaced our card reader... so that's slowing me down
