Hi R,
When you jack from the side… (a few inches forward of the dogleg) be CAREFUL with the placement of the jack because it's possible for part of the jack to contact the rocker trim... depending what type of jack you're using.
Regards,
Alan
word of caution, chock your frt wheels for safety if you're not on level ground. My frame is so good that if I jack one side up the other side lifts off the the ground.
My exhaust is in the way to get under the differential I would have to make some fancy piece on the lathe, to fit onto the top of the jack.
I have a piece of heavy wall 3" pipe about 5 inches long that I can put on the floor jack support plate. It fits neatly between the exhaust pipes and keeps the jack support plate from crushing the exhaust when lifting at the differential.
Great input from all the C3 gurus with regards to jacking the rear That 3" x 5" pipe is a terrific idea for the rear....Can your tell me what kind of "heavy wall" pipe to use???
Can any one suggest a way to jack up the front and lift the whole front end at the same time??

I want to make something similar.... I would prefer it to be attached or threaded into the top of the jack...
Do you think there is much risk of the piece of pipe slipping off the top of the jack sitting loose like that?
the only problem with my idea is it would need to be too tall to roll the jack into the position. I bet that is why yours is not attached
Donnie....Thx for your response...Can you tell me what size the two pieces of wood are and exactly where I should place them under the front end??? Pic is great but the actual span is a little hard to see..

Mine is about 12" long 2x4. You just must span the front cross member
and make sure that you don't put pressure on the center of it. The center will bend as it is very light metal.
You need to span this cross member completely across.
You can see the harmonic balancer in the front of the engine.

Mine is some 3" xtra heavy wall SS pipe (3.5" OD x .312" wall). It is 4" long to clear my exhaust. I roll the jack under the car and then place the pipe in the jack support between the exhaust pipes.
