Have any of you fellows put flame decals on your C3 front fenders where the opening is..I was thinking about putting quality 18" red w/silver accent old school flamestickers on my '78 Silver Anniversary vette..
Car is drop dead gorgeous as is..but a bit of silver and red would dress up that front fender area nicely and compliment the red in the crossed flags side emblems..
I'm not at all into show judging matters and the car is one we hope to enjoy..and like the look of..Your thots or pictures if you have them..thx, Jim

I feel that decision is entirely up to you and any comment is actually worthless and pointless because it is your car.
But I will 'say' that if you get them I would place them where you would like them with something that does not make it permanent and look at it for while before you go and do it.
So much of it depends on HOW the flames actually look. If they are strictly the outlines of the flames..and those outlines are really thin...so the flames are not 'in your face' when they are on ...then I (personally) might go for it. I am for subtle enhancements that do not go too far from the 'normal'...because if I get away from the 'normal'...then I go FULL BLOWN crazy and custom.
Love flame jobs and planning to have one painted on my car when it get there. Have vinyl flames on our PT Cruiser. Have held up extremely well and still look sharp. I like color so I would go with it myself. But MHO means nothing nor any other. If you like, want it, go with it!
Thanks for your thots..
I have the red w/silver 18" x5" flame adhesive stickers coming..
Before I peel the backing off and install them..I'll mock them on with small pieces of tape and see how my wife likes them..The ones i have coming reflect at night a bit..but look normal like painted on by day..Jim

FWIW: before you stick anything, I would review the instructions to determine how you can remove these when the time comes. It would be a shame not to be able to remove them easily and risk ruining your SA paint.

You're right, your car looks gorgeous as is. I'm not a fan of flames but if you feel like you'd like to see them on the car then go for it. I agree with the others, though, would be good to test fit some flames to get an idea of what it's going to look like so you don't get "installer's remorse" afterwards.
Sorry I have never seen flames on a c3 that looked good except perhaps candy ghost flames on the right car, your car is rather stunning as it, one of my favorite factory looks....leave the cheesy car wash custom items at the autozone or pep boys next to the stick figure family and dodge hash mark decals...okay, was that snide and snarky enough?
No one should car less what mine or anyonye else opinion it, if you like it do it, if I don't like it you shouldnt care it's YOUR car....

Yes..not only will they need to be pleasing to the eye aesthetically..they will need to to come off without damage to the charcoal silver paint..we'll see..Jim
something else to consider,
I have a buddy who put the dodge hash mark decals on his fender when he got tired of that connection he took them off, the peeled right off and you could see the faintest ghost where they had been, he never could buff that out....

Yes there is alays the small risk that the paint beneath such decal-stickers will not age quite like the rest of the paint..
Seein' as how these flames would go in the below sight line in the recessed area painted metallic grey of the front fenders..Not sure that'd be an issue.
.And yes..I'll think long and hard about whether they go on at all..
Thanks for your thots and input..BTW.these are not auto zone quality stickers..Top shelf 6 year outdoor rated..Jim
here's a link to what's coming..
