A set of Steel Shields should be a required purchase for all sidepipe installations. I zinged myself several times before making the purchase. VERY painful. Lingering pain, too. Not just quick-and-it-goes-away sort of pain. Burns suck.

Yeah I waffled back and forth on getting them but then the wife hit her leg with jeans getting in and out. Had to pull the trigger if I want to keep the sidepipes

They came in earlier this week and were immediately installed. Couldn't get on the road until yesterday. I checked the temp with a thermal camera and after an hour they got up to a whopping 80 degrees!! The pipe itself was well over 100. Definitely a required purchase. I will post pics of them installed soon.

Burning Brakes
Thanks. They are pretty pricey at 425 plus shipping. I bought a set from cobra shields and they don't fit well at all. Their spacing will hit the rear mount tab on Hooker sidepipes,

Those style sidepipes are still not practical . A friend of mine has them on his 69 and says he gets burned more when he has to access his engine and the covers don't help there . I would be concerned if you walk away from the car and someone accidently gets against them , especially if you have kids. I could see that happening at a car cruise where a lot of people approach the car when you pull in. Law suit waiting to happen.

Yeah I looked at the Cobra Shields as well, even talked with the fabricator. He point blank told me they wouldn't work correctly so I went this route. Definitely not cheap, made me think about it for a while but I'm happy with the decision, worth the saved tears in my book.
