Is there a brake tool to help install the rear pads? I replaced the caliper and am having a hell of a time trying to get the pads in place. As you know the pads must go in straight down, meaning that I cannot **** one side while trying to put the other side in front of the piston. This is on my 81. I seem to remember seeing some kind of "U" shaped thing that held the piston in while you slipped the pads in place. Went to Advance, they had no idea what I was talking about.
Thanks for any help.

I use a small block of wood to hold the pads apart. Do not put the pin in yet. The block holds the pads apart and it gets pushed up and out as the caliper is seated on the bracket. Once the caliper is on the bracket, you can put the pad pin in and secure with a carter pin. Jerry

I usually do it this way too. You can also use a thin wide putty knife to hold the pistons back and slide the pad in.
