I guess people do not know pewter is a LEO vette owner...

sure it is...oh but LEO's are people too and you ever noticed when someone is in power they will almost always to some degree take advantage of it and abuse that power, some admit this and others make excuses or try to say they are the one person with power who has never ever been "human" IE abused that power.

I have enough LEO buddies and seen enough like this thread to know that many times a person will get a ticket or get off just because of some little personal reason, IE cool car, hot chick, hot guy etc etc....

It seemed the whole attitude about it depends if you got off breaking the law endangering others then that cop was cool if he/she gave you a ticket then that cop was a d-bag....no, if you were breaking the law that ticket was a LEO doing their job.

I've mentioned this in another topic somewhere here (I really need to get some new stories).
I was doing 95 mph, and had backed off to 85 mph (limit 65) when I saw the CHiP in my rear view. I thought, uh-oh, and then he blew past me with a big grin on his face.

Seems I don't have a lucky face I have gotten several tickets in vettes,

My favorite was in the late 80's and in a town known for the cops being hard, hum, how was it "known" for that?

So it's about 2 am I am out of work heading for subway and knowing where I was going really slow, so I thought in my 81,

Out of the funeral parlor lot comes a LEO lights flashing I pull over and he does the "you know why I pulled you over?" thing,

I actually didn't, I said no, not really, he said speeding, I said it's a 35 zone I was doing that...get ready...he said I have you on radar doing 38...and yep wrote me a ticket,

When I went to pay it even that clerk said she never seen one written for breaking the speed limit so low....

Do I believe that I got it for reasons other than 3 mph over? you bet I do.

I have been told that about a zillion times since then ranging from LEO's Lawyers friends and rev heads, but I had a night club then worked 6 or 7 days a week long hours and just didnt have time to mess with it.....

I guess that goes both ways,
I was cruising the modded 66 in the 90's and it had headlights in the grill being a cruise area the LEO's were out in force but pretty cool unless you were making a Richard Cranium of yourself, so this one pulls me over for no headlights only fog lights I said those are headlights he says headlights have hi/lo beams I said watch and I flick the switch and the LEO says well, I still do not believe those are "right" but this is some old car and I really do not have the time for the paperwork on it....

Let me get this straight: You spend 30 years on the job and you pull one guy over to talk with him about his car and you should be fired?

You don't have a clue. Unfortunately this thread has gone in a most predictable direction.

I will toss 2 more centavos...
30 years or 6 months time being an Leo doesn't matter if a Leo pulls a person over to check out a car talk Rev head or flirt with the owner or any other non law enforcement reason...should they be fired? Well at least a stern warning as that is not what tax payers are paying for them to do.

Fired, yes. He obviously doesn't understand what his job is. Harassing people is not in the job description. Harassing people is actually against the law. Leo sympathizers are the wrong answer to a bigger problem.

Hopefully before this thread is locked down,
I asked my wife Tina let me get your view and opinion on this thread, she said, I don't care, don't have one, wait...you mean there are cops bragging they do not ticket "corvettes" what kind of BS ^$&*#( is that?????

I understand her irritation on that, as she said, so if I am just a working class sucker in my DD non vette POS then I do get the ticket the vette owner didn't get for us both doing the same thing?!?!?!?

I walk a narrow fence here,
I have friends who are LEO and used to hire lots of them for off duty work at my clubs and events and I learned they are just human some good some bad,

I have zero use and a big old disdain for LEO's who have that ego trip holier than though attitude they are right no matter what and we are wrong no matter what because they wear a badge those types use expressions like "respect is earned" and demand it with out giving it ( no, respect is given and gotten back, or should be. ) they want their butts kissed and treat people in a condescending belittling fashion, those type do abuse the power they have and have no business being in that position.

However,
that isn't all LEO's some are wonderful down to earth fellows doing a job most of us do not have the stamina for, all LEO's risk their lives moment by moment not knowing if this next call will be the end of them, some can do this and not take it out on the cat like myself that doesn't do anything to them and only did something stupid like a California roll at a stop or drifting over the speed limit others let the job get to them.

So do I believe that if a LEO pulls me over to check out my car he/she should be fired, no, but I do not believe that any LEO should abuse their power and use it that way, I do not believe that there should be some law breakers that do not get punished just because of the make car they drive or how they look.
And I do not believe that any LEO should brag on a forum about abusing such powers and then get offended if someone call it out.....

I'm sure glad I never got all the tickets I deserved, I would guess I only got cited less than 20% of the time and then it was for a lower speed than I was actually going. My buddy got stopped for 102 over, doing 127 in a 25 zone,Main street in a 1 stop light town. Cop told him. "If I write you for this, you won't drive for a long time, Keep this $hit outside of town" and let him off.

my dad lived in Jacksonville and mom moved me to Orlando and in the 70's dad would come to visit me on his way home he said he spent many a sets of bias plies on his 70 firebird,
He said his thing was seeing how high over 100mph he could keep it non stop home,

So a few years later he and my step mom in their fwd caddy get pulled over for speeding and he was doing like 10-15 over the speed limit he said the LEO was so upset and loosing it so hard scolding him and having a fit he told the LEO, if you get this upset over this speed I am sure happy you didn't catch me in my FB, that would have killed you....

That reminds me of a ticket about 25 years ago in Tallahassee. I was passing through after a trip north for Christmas, headed back to South Florida. I had been with a pack of cars, but suddenly was away from them. I passed a cop in the median doing 81.

He has half the ticket written before he brings me back to his car, so I knew there was nothing I was going to do about it. He hands it to me and then proceeds with "Don't you think that 81 is just a bit outrageous?" Well, ticket in hand, I've nothing to lose, so I tell him not at all, that is typical rush hour in the morning in Broward. If he thinks 81 is fast, he had better never come south or they will run right over him.

I understand completely that police officers should not be stopping cars unless there is a clear violation. I actually served as Chief of a 35 officer department and conducted internal investigations for over 13 years as a Lieutenant. A first offense would merit a verbal warning. Subsequent offenses would merit some form of discipline. A firing would never be sustained for a first offense by an officer.

The vast majority of guys on the job do the right things, risk their lives to help/save perfect strangers and all anyone talks about is a motor vehicle stop by a rogue officer. Sorry if I sound defensive.

Quote from this thread - ""He said his thing was seeing how high over 100mph he could keep it non stop home""

If I caught someone driving through my neighborhood over 100 mph, the cops would be the last thing they would need to worry about.

I don't think they were bragging about going out of their way to not give tickets to corvette owners. To me, they were saying they just hadn't had to give a corvette owner a ticket before but I could be wrong. I do agree that it would be BS to give owners of a certain type of car special treatment though
