State Trooper pulled me over today....
I understand completely that police officers should not be stopping cars unless there is a clear violation. I actually served as Chief of a 35 officer department and conducted internal investigations for over 13 years as a Lieutenant. A first offense would merit a verbal warning. Subsequent offenses would merit some form of discipline. A firing would never be sustained for a first offense by an officer. The vast majority of guys on the job do the right things, risk their lives to help/save perfect strangers and all anyone talks about is a motor vehicle stop by a rogue officer. Sorry if I sound defensive.
You are very clear and open minded on this stuff.
Oh infernal repairs, tough job, I believe you see where I am on all this,
to add to that each situation is different, if a LEO pulls me over to "check out my car" is to me a lot less of an "offense" than say pulling over a car to flirt with the driver which could be a sexual misconduct or rape type in the making, some people will always bash ALL LEO's I only bash the few who deserve it.

unless you live on the side of a major highway then my dad wasn't speeding through your 'hood, and I am sure when he got off the Highway he slowed down a hair,
but my dad lived to 89 doing things his way and I assure you didn't worry about anything or anyone...so
was my dad being a d-bag breaking the law and deserving to get busted and hauled off to the hoosegow of course he was...my dad was a crazy cat...rip

and we all know that some drivers do get special treatment from some LEO's and that goes back to what I said about LEO's are just humans and some abuse the trust and power we gave them.
I take a more relaxed view on than say giant robot because I feel being a LEO is a huge more or less thank less job that can end their life any day any minute so I cut them slack.

..My wife who I shared the thread with got the overall "impression" that some LEO's let off some drivers due to owning vettes and that some of the comments in this thread were LEO's saying they had done that type thing, The topic of the thread is a LEO letting someone off because they drove a corvette...so she wasn't reaching far..I have no idea if they meant they had just never pulled over a vette or that had but never gave a vette owner a ticket, the point is what you said above in red, and just because you or I am are the one who didn't get the ticket because we are in our vette doesn't make it fair or right, I do not see a LEO failing at their job as being something to promote and boast about, others do.

I can't say I would appreciate being pulled over to talk about my car. I rarely drive around just for fun; if I'm driving, I'm typically trying to get to school or work on time. If I was pulled over just to chat about the car, I'd probably end up being late and that would **** me off a bit. I don't think cops should do that, but I don't think they should be fired for it if they do.

But the world is full of people with personal opinions and what happens is a person gets in trouble with a LEO for being a D-bag and holds a grudge and to them ALL LEO are dbags, and cop bashing starts.

Of course some LEO's are D-bags but it's not fair to judge all by a few bad apples...I would like to see a few basher walk a day or two in shoes of a LEO.
