My interior door panels have always been a little floppy and not really secured to the door. Turns out the metal clip that attaches to the door panel fiberboard wore out. So there's nothing to attach to. Door panels are in great conditions and I don't want to buy new panels.
Any tips to build up some strength in the fiberboard at those spots where the clips attach to door panel. Epoxy? Fiberglass?
If memory serves... I do believe the quick and easy fix for this is to epoxy and small rectangle of sheet metal across the opening so that the clip can attach to it.

I had the same problem on my Eagle. I pushed the fiberboard in place and laid down fiberglass cloth on the backside. Its been on there for a few years now and no hint of coming off. The only concern is that its easy to get fiberglass resin on the good side of the door panel (I did). You can use acetone to remove the resin from the front of the panel but I found that if I rubbed too much it removed the colour from the vinyl as well. You could test the vinyl on your panel where it doesn't show and see if acetone removes the colour, or be much more careful than I was about not getting fiberglasss resin on the good side.
Hmm, never would've thought to try aluminum and epoxy. Any tips on which epoxy to use with aluminum and fiberboard? Typically when I epoxy stuff it holds for a week then falls apart. 😤
Would the stuff from Home Depot work? JB Weld? Loctite? Gorilla glue?
I had the same issue last week. All I used was JB weld . I let it sit overnight with the clip in place and the piece of door panel plastic over it and a good layer of JB weld evenly across. It was like a rock!! BTW I also filled in the screw holes that the clips screw into on the doors with a little JB while I was at it just to tighten everything up some.
I fitted the panel- wet it so I could bend it- then brushed some fiberglass resin on it. Test fitted again - a little tweeking and I added some mat & resin on the flimsy places and where the fiberboard was damaged and filled the window crank hole as I added power windows
It worked great- fits nice and tight- and going to use the "Magdaddy" magnets to add to the tight fit.
These are modded a bit- but you get the idea. Used some spray foam to form and repair.
