Doing it yourself, you know what parts you are using, you know how well it is done, you know that someone that might not respect what you have takes it on a test drive and damages it. Major concerns turning over a car like you have to someone you do not know. Good luck! I still suspect a damaged clutch disc or pressure plate. Ask the mechanic, what components he is using, warranty, wherere will your car will be kept if he keeps it overnight. Most important to me is who will test drive it?

All valid questions...and the who is testing driving it and where will it be kept over night are key to me. She has been garage kept since day one (a surgeon was first own and did a full body off resto of his 58 vette and the second owner was a former navy radio operator that logged everything about the car to include start and stop milage and destination and date). When i had to replace the bumper covers I took it to a friend that owned a body shop. He kept her inside the entire week but called me twice a day cause people kept wanting to buy it and wouldnt leave till he talked to me. Drove me crazy as I was on vacation at the time lol

So I stopped by the shop to ask about the clutch manufacturer...pro something...never heard of them. If I bring my own clutch kit in they will change me $500 to install and resurface the fly wheel, car will remain in the bay of they keep it over night and the owner will be the one to test drive it. I felt better when I saw a Ford Falcon in there being worked on with care.

Any suggestions on which clutch to get? I dont race, just cruise around...after all she is the slowest vette ever made at 165hp thanks to the cat. Looking for a kit with everything I need...bearing, plate, etc. Thanks

If you trust the mechanic, use what he suggests, if you supply the parts, there goes the warranty, if there is one. If the parts you supply are defective, you will probably have to pay again to get it fixed. Hopefully Dub will chime in on his recommendations.
