Default Lower Rearend

I bought some 9/16"12" threaded rod about a month ago and TIG welded nuts on one end making them 10.5" after cutting them down. Anyways, I had a bit of time today so thought I'd install them and the bushings after the end link bushings. After tightening the nuts to get it to about the same distance as the old gap I let the jack down and the back end sits about 1.125" higher. I bounced the back end a bit to get it to settle down but nothing. Getting late so I am done for the night but as I look at it more it seems like I would need shorter bolts to compress the spring more to lower it. Am I just tired and looking at this all wrong? Ive read about lowering on here and other sites and I know kits come with longer bolts so should I just loosening the nuts? I know, another weird question from me but I guess I'm just not seeing what could be wrong.

Longer bolts lowers the rear, you just need to roll it back and forth the settle it or a drive around the block.

Sorry, longer bolts will lower the rear. You have to remember that the rear is working on a pivot from the trailing arms.

Thanks guys! In all that I have read I didn't see anything about driving it afterwards to settle it down or about it pivoting. I will probably adjust a bit tomorrow and take it for a spin.

Threaded rod WILL develop a stress crack and BREAK when used in an area that has constant movement.........as I found out a few years ago.

Once you have the rear end height adjusted with the threaded rods, buy quality bolts and install them in place of the threaded rod.

These are hardened and only threaded a few inches on each end. They should be OK right?
