Default Keeping it cool

Looking for some things to do which may help keep my 68 327/300 AT,AC,PB,PS coupe running a little cooler. I have a new 180 stat, the fan clutch is also new. Original fan. The AC has not been hooked up in 20 years, I am wondering if the radiator would work better if the AC condenser was removed and set aside. Or should I be looking at an aluminum 3 or 4 row radiator. I would rather keep it looking stock. It typically hovers at 200-205 after a 2 hour ride 35-55 mph. I was thinking 180 would be my goal.

Not sure if this post should be in Tech...

180 is only the temperature at which the thermostat opens and is not normal operating temperature. 190-210 is average normal operating temperature. If you show 200 or so after two hours of around town driving, I think you're fine.

If you do decide it is not running as cool as you'd like, have the radiator hot tanked and rodded out before you spend big bucks an a new one.

Hi S,
Something that's important to engine cooling is getting all the air flowing THROUGH the radiator and not AROUND it.
Do you have the proper core support for your radiator size?
Do you have the proper foam seal across the top of the core support for the shape of the hood on your car?
Do you have the 4 foam seals on the radiator… top, bottom, and each side?
Do you have the rubber flap that seals the rear edge of the lower valance panel to the bottom of the core support?
Is the a/c condenser and radiator clear of debris?
Maybe?
Regards,
Alan
