Does a C7 plus a C3 make a C10? My son and I went and picked up the C3 that my wife and I saw on a road trip last week (and several of you have provided valuable input). It needed a pitman arm, so we grabbed a Uhaul flatbed, drove down, and trailered it the 150 miles to our home.
I've always like the C3 body style. This one needs the interior and suspension freshened but it runs great - the previous owners are wonderful people and we struck a fair deal for both parties.
'72; 4 spd; both tops; ps, tile/tele and a few other options. 110k miles, and no rust as it has always been a high-desert car with no winters. My son and I will have some fun bringing up to a really nice #2 driver. I'll probably return it to the original War Bonnet Yellow at some point, but the deep/dark purple metallic paint that was done several years ago is really nice enough to enjoy for a bit.
Love our '15 Z51, and that car will be the go to car for longer road trips, but we're really excited to have the C3. My son and I took it for a short drive this evening (pitman arm) and the wife said it sounded really good and she likes the style. She also said to get whatever we need from Willcox while it's on sale.
Thank you again for your help - really appreciated!!
The only way to get a C10 out of those two stunning cars is to get them to MATE! Put them in the same garage, wait until dark, put on some mood music and see what happens...
Willcox has the LH mirror on sale. They have the RH too, and I'm going to get both.
Just a pet peeve of mine, but give the RH mirror some thought before adding it. I hate seeing a car survive for 40+ years in it's original configuration being transformed. Also the RH mirror doesn't provide the view of a modern RH mirror as the glass in not convex. When I first bought my car I was going to add the RH mirror, but after I learned a little more about the car and mirror I skipped it and have never found a need for it. As I said, just a personal thing with me.
On a side note, l think you live really close to me. It's nice having another C3 in the hood.
That's a nice looking car, congrats. Really like the color on the C7 too.
If the only rule your wife gave you was to buy parts when they're on sale, you're in luck, because Willcox seems to have sales going on all the time.

I agree. The previous owner of my car installed the passenger side mirror, and I find it to be worthless for the most part. He installed it further forward than it's supposed to be, which seems like it should help visibility, but I still can't see much with it. I do kind of like the symmetry, but I think I'm going to get rid of it when I paint the car

My '71 does not have the RH mirror, and I consider it an extremely important accessory driving thru all the traffic here. Anything is better than risking a crash caused by a blind spot.

All I'm saying is an old school RH mirror is really crappy and is nothing like a modern car's RH mirror with convex glass. I just think it's wise for a new owner to understand that small point before drilling holes. If after all that a RH mirror is deemed necessary than go for it.
Now if someone would build an original looking RH mirror with convex glass I'd be a lot more inclined to agree about the safety aspect.
One of the mistakes I made with my car was to start changing things before I actually understood the car as I spent a lot of time changing things back later in life. YMMV
