Hi All. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A year ago I moved from Wyoming to retire in Western NC. Just before moving, had my '78 Vette 25th Anniversary serviced, oil change, etc. Anyway, hauled the Vette all the way out to NC. About a month after arriving, went for a drive. After the Vette warms up, the tranny slips. I think transmission fluid, maybe synthetic was added during the service in WY. I drained the tranny and put in correct fluid but it's still slipping, esp. in Reverse. Next, I'm going to change the filter and all new fluid and see if that corrects it, if not, should I have it flushed? Any ideas. This transmission only has about 36K miles on it.
Looks like you're taking the logical steps. I would think 36K miles is very low miles for the trans. I had over 100K and only a small front seal leak before taking mine out - and it performed just fine. Perhaps the seal on the filter not seated fully, sucking air? Hope you get it sorted out. Maybe a more experienced trans tech can give advice on a flush.
Agree on the do not flush. As you already plan, drop the pan and change the filter and fluid. Take note of the amount of debris in the pan.
And also check the suction hole in the valve body that the filter connects to......make sure there isn't an EXTRA rubber seal stuck in the suction hole (or no rubber seal at all).
