Default Which fuse controls the ignition switch?

Hi, I have a vette c3 79 and I am trying to find which fuse kills the ignition switch. I took all fuses out one at a time but the ignition still works...does anyone know from the diagram which is the right fuse located?

I guess I'll ask your intent of the question. I thought the ignition feeds off of fusible link A, not a fuse.
Since you were looking for a fuse to kill the ignition switch, I would think the fusible link is working. What are we trying to engineer here?

There is NO fuse in the fuse panel that stops the power to the ignition switch.

I am also curious on what you are 'thinking' of doing???

And...not that what I think matters here....its your car.... I have a bit of concern...because...If you do not know that there is no fuse to your ignition switch....then I am concerned on what you plan to do is actually safe for you and your car and not possibly cause for future problem(s).

hehehe....I want to engineer a kill switch operated from a hidden button...I saw this is done by going through the fuses..but lo and behold not with this car looks like...
is the fusible link A in the fuse box?
Thank you
d.

Both of the fusible links are at the starter motor (technically the starter solenoid). Don't mess with them--they're essentially short, smaller gauge sections of wire that will burn in half under an extreme over-current condition. The fusible links are installed after the single main power that runs direct from the + battery terminal to the solenoid. A starter kill switch in that first section is not very practical as it would require an extremely heavy gauge wire and high-amp switch. It would also kill all power to the car.

You can add an ignition circuit (the solenoid itself) kill switch fairly easily. Such already exists in either the clutch start switch (manual transmission) or neutral safety switch (automatic). I do suggest that you get a wiring diagram before doing this.

Instead of adding a hidden switch you might consider adding an accessory remote keyless entry system nearly all of which provide contacts for a relay that acts as your kill switch.

I also feel that if you want to do this....getting a wiring diagram and if you do not understand it...learn how the circuits work and their functions so when you do whatever you plan on....you do not regret it.

GM installed a 'starter interrupt relay' and also a 'starter enable relay' that will make the start not work unless a specific function gets used to energize/de-energize the relay. OBVIOUSLY ...both of these relays were not used at the same time on a the same car....they were different designs.

One of my customers likes to use the power kill switches (solenoid)...that can kill the cars entire power supply when a hidden switch is used. And it can also be wired so IF you have some circuits that you want to keep LIVE...you can do this also. I have done several for him where the power to the computer and clock stay alive at all times...but everything else is dead.

All you need is a simple toggle switch under the dash that interrupts the 12vdc power going to the ignition coil. Your car will still have power...but it just won't start--until you flip that switch.

Bad idea to take an unfused power source into the passenger area. Ditch that idea....
