Anyone know what this bracket is for. I don't see it on my 69. It's on my 68 but it's not the original frame. It's on the rear cross near the mount for rear carrier.

Hi t,
Do you have any idea what year the frame is from?
If its a 68-72 frame the 2 tabs were added sometime after the car left St.Louis.
Regards,
Alan

It's very similar to the 69. Not sure of the year.

A bit difficult to tell the location in the pic. What's the dangling spring for? Fuel lines or tranny lines in the background?

Looks like the spring for the parking brake cable to give you an idea of the location Mike.

If they're mounted to the center of the crossmember, near where the front of rear end bolts up, I'd say they are the forward brackets for a traction bar.

They are the fuel lines. The spring is the e-brake

Looks like that might be it.

The brackets were welded by someone who actually knew how to weld.
They do not match any other weld on the frame.
Definitely did not come from the factory.

South Side Machine (SSM) and a couple others made a "rear end locating kit/traction bar/lift bar/whatever you want to call it" for Corvettes.
It secures the rear to reduce hop. That's what the mount looks like it would have been used for.
