Default windshield post molding

1976 coupe. Replacing some interior parts and I'm having trouble getting a tight fit to the windshield pillar post. The screw holes line up fine but can't get the Velcro fastener to grab and hold to keep the outside edge of the molding tight against the pillar. Any tips for this? I am using the Wilcox/ca reproductions.

So much if this depends on how they wrapped the post with the vinyl and any obstruction you have in it. Sometimes when these are wrapped...they visual side is fine...but what you can not see is often times the important part so it will fit up tight to the metal post.

When I deal with these...I make sure that when it is in place I can work the latch for the T-top without it hitting the new molding...and IF the molding is not quite perfect...then that is when hand massaging it to get it to the best it can be is what I do. I leave that up to my customer on how much time they want to pay me to put into these parts to get them correct.

Honestly....I do try to get the plastic velcro pads to catch...but often times this is FUTILE due to inconsistencies and the amount of time I would have to spend to get them to BOTH contact and cage corrector...would cost my customer a lot of money. And I do not use adhesive in this area because there may be a need to remove it in time and that would thus cause for more problems.
